Minister for Women and Child Development C C Patil felicitated a few senior citizens for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields. Appreciating several paintings by the senior citizens that were on display at the programme, the minister said he would propose to the government to buy these paintings and display them in various government offices. This would encourage them to do more, he added.

Senior citizens K Chinnappa (art); M P Gundappa (education); Kundaru Seethamma Rama Rao (literature); VLS Murthy (senior citizens welfare); Guram R Narayanappa (handicrafts); VHG Kenchana Gowda (freedom fighter); M R Krishnamurthy (drama) and Senior Citizens Welfare Trust were honoured on the occasion.

One of the awardees, M P Gundappa observed that senior citizens could contribute to society by guiding younger generation in the right direction. “It is crucial to impart knowledge on punctuality, sense of duty and pride in work to the younger generation to create a good society,” he said.
