Chikkamagaluru: A 35 year old male elephant electrocuted after coming in contact with live wire at Tanigebail in Lingadahalli hobli of Tarikere taluk.
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday morning when an elephant came into contact with an electric wire installed through the Sandhya Coffee Estate to supply power to the villages of Nandigave, Dandubittahara.
The elephant, which had approached a jackfruit tree in the estate to feed on its fruit, is believed to have accidentally touched a nearby live wire and succumbed to electrocution.
Officials from the Bhadra Wildlife Tanigebailu division, including Range Forest Officer Sudhakar Nayak, ACF Santosh Sagar, Lingadahalli Police Station Officer Shashikumar, and MESCOM Engineer Tippesh, visited the site and conducted an inspection.
