Nanjangud (Mysuru dist): The Forest department personnel rescued a wild jumbo that had fallen into a pit, under Onkar forest area, near Govindashetty Palya, at Hanchipura village, Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru district, on Thursday morning. It was later driven into the forest.

According to Range Forest Officer Satish, the male jumbo fell into the pit, at the farm belonging to Mahadevappa of Hanchipura. It started trumpeting, out of fear, as it could not climb up and come out of the pit.

The villagers immediately alerted the Forest department personnel, who rushed to the spot. They lifted the jumbo with the help of a crane. It was later safely driven into the forest, said Deputy Range Forest Officer Amar.
