With only a month away for the celebrations of ‘Nada Habba’ Dasara, neither the district administration nor the Public Works Department have begun to concentrate on the road conditions of the city, which is more than pathetic.
The above mentioned stretch before the railway level crossing on the busy KRS road sports unscientific road humps. The road humps which had been laid earlier has been tampered in such a way that one travelling in a two-wheeler is sure to lose his balance and the four wheeler riders have to secure themselves from the bumpy ride.
On the stretch of this road is situated various educational institutions like GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women and GSSS Institute of Sciences. Hundreds of students who vroom on their two-wheelers in a rush to attend their classes have to ply on these humps every day. Moreover, hundreds of visitors to the only theme park of Mysore, GRS have to pass on this road to reach the fantasy park and can actually have a trailer of games much before entering it, absolutely free and at their own risk! Several factories like Vikrant, JK tyres and other small establishments are situated on the road as it comes under the Industrial area and not one day passes without cursing the authorities concerned while passing this stretch, says an employee of Mypol Keshavamurthy. Moreover, thousands of people will be descending on Mysore during the Dasara and a visit to Brindavan Gardens is a must on their itinerary. With the road closed near CFTRI and pathetic road condition throughout the stretch it is sure to stay on the memory of the tourists for all wrong reasons.
Several attempts by the paper to contact the authorities concerned proved futile and doubts ply on mind as to whether they have woken up even after the recent mishap where two kids were killed owing to unscientific road humps.
