Mysuru: Former minister and BJP state vice-president N Mahesh said, the Karnataka State government should implement report on internal reservation among Scheduled Caste (SC) communities, by revising it to do justice to all.

Addressing a media conference, in Mysuru, on Thursday, Mahesh said, the communities within the SC should not be made to fight among themselves. “The government should do the changes to the Justice Nagamohan Das Commission's report, scientifically, by verifying the exact castes among Adi Karnataka, Adi Dravida and Adi Andhra communities, and do justice to all,” he added.

Mahesh said, “The government formed the commission for allotting internal quota after the Madiga community's movement for adequate representation in reservation. The Commission has allocated 5% reservation for the right-hand (Balagai) community and 6% for the left-hand (Edagai) community. This looks like an injustice to the right-hand community”.

“One sub-caste of the Holeya community has been separated and given a 1% reservation. This separation is not right. They should also be included with the right-hand community and given 6% reservation,” he demanded.

“The revised report should be presented before the upcoming Cabinet meeting, discussed, and implemented. We are not against the report. But we demand that it be revised. The discord between the two communities must be prevented," he said.

BJP Mysuru rural district president Kumbaralli N Subbanna, SC Morcha state secretary M S Paramanand, city president V Shylendra, rural president Anil Kumar, general secretary Karthik Mariyappa, and Mahesh Raje Urs were present during the press conference.
