Ex-minister's supporters attack journalists

Two reporters and a cameraman belonging to a TV channel were attacked by supporters of H Y Meti at his residence at Navanagar here on Wednesday.

One of the reporters was injured in the leg. The supporters then threatened and abused other journalists there. They forcibly pushed out a few of the reporters. The District Working Journalists’ Association has filed a complaint with M N Nagaraja, the Superintendent of Police.

The police have provided security to the house of constable Subhash Mugalakhod, who is said to have filmed Meti in the act.

The woman seen in the sex video with Meti, who had got herself admitted to a hospital on Tuesday, left the hospital at midnight and is said to have gone to an unknown place with her relatives.

BJP holds protest
Meanwhile, members of the BJP held a protest against former minister Meti at Basaveshwara Circle in the city on Wednesday. Former legislators Veeranna Charanthimath and Narayansa Bhandage led the protest. Earlier, a procession was taken out to the Basaveshwara Circle.

Addressing the agitators, Charanthimath said that Meti had brought disrepute to the district by seeking sexual favours from a woman who went to him seeking a job.
Police have provided security to the former minister’s home office on the premises of the city municipal council office at Navanagar, where a large number of Meti’s supporters had gathered.
