Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda inaugurated a photo exhibition depicting the 60-year history of the State Assembly at the Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Soudha on Sunday.

The exhibition, organised on the sidelines of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Assembly, showcases the political history of the State.

As many as 70 photographs, some of them rare ones, are on  display. Some of the rare photographs include a group picture of members of the 1952 Assembly (then it was called Mysore Legislative Assembly), Dr S Radhakrishnan inspecting the construction work of the Vidhana Soudha in 1954, B D Jatti presenting the budget and Ramakrishna Hegde walking in the corridors of the Vidhana Soudha.

The photographs of all the chief ministers and the all governors of the State are also on display.

Later speaking to reporters, Gowda said though the 60th anniversary was a historic occasion for the State, it was decided to organise it in a simple manner due to the prevailing drought.

However, the event is being held with all seriousness to maintain the dignity of the Assembly.
