Bengaluru: Videos and photographs showing family members of Congress leaders posing with RCB cricketers on the grand steps of the Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday, when a stampede killed 11 people, have added to public anger over the tragedy.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s grandson Dhawan Rakesh and Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan’s son Zaid were seen on the grand steps where the RCB team were felicitated in a government event.
Dhawan, along with Hunsur JD(S) MLA GD Harish Gowda, was seen posing for photos with RCB star Virat Kohli -- facilitated by the police.
Family members of other politicians as well as officers were there to meet and greet the cricketers, it is said.
Netizens also questioned the presence of Karnataka Mahila Congress president Sowmya Reddy, a former MLA whose father is senior minister Ramalinga Reddy, on the grand steps during a government event.
Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka tweeted pictures of Zaid Khan on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha.
“Children of Congress ministers and lawmakers received royal treatment on the stage while citizens suffered on the street. There, people died due to a stampede and ran helter-skelter to save their lives. Here, Congress leaders and their children wore cooling glasses and took selfies,” Ashoka said.
