The name of the deceased farmer is given as Yarrappa (45). He was on his way to work in agricultural fields when he stepped on a live wire. Hundreds of farmers staged a dharna along with the dead body in front of Bescom office in Batlahalli. They demanded action against the officers responsible for the death and payment of compensation to the family of the deceased.

Executive Engineer, Kolar, visited the spot and held talks with the protesters. The agitating farmers withdrew their  following an assurance to consider the case for steps for payment of compensation.

Zilla Panchayat member Srinivasa Reddy, Agricultural Produces Marketing Committee president School Subbareddy and other farmers took part in the dharna.
