Bengaluru: The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Green Brigade staged a protest at the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) office in Bengaluru on Monday, demanding an increase in milk procurement price to at least Rs 50 per litre.
They also called for an interim support price of Rs 10 until the implementation of a Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Led by association president Kodihalli Chandrashekar, the protest saw participation from farmers across Bengaluru, Chikkaballapur, Doddaballapur, and Tumakuru.
The protesters further urged the government to abolish the levy on locally procured milk and ensure direct procurement of maize for cattle feed from farmers.
While KMF officials appealed for the protest to be called off, assuring that their concerns would be addressed, the association insisted that demonstrations would continue until the government provided a written assurance.
