They burnt effigy with names of the elected representatives written on it during the protest held under the banner of the Yuva Vidyarthi Hitarakshana Vedike at the Boys Government College circle here. They alleged that though students have staged protests, sit-in stirs and submitted memorandums, opposing the increase in the fee, none of the elected representatives have responded to their appeals, the students complained.
Even the Higher Education Minister and Vice-Chancellor have turned blind to the students’ woes, they alleged.
They demanded that the University and the Government should be pressurised to withdraw the order on the fee hike and accept the fee as prescribed in the last year. They warned of intense agitation if their demand is not fulfilled.
B Suresh Gowda, Hohalli Nagaraj, Suman, Mani, Ravi, Nagendra, Mutturaju, Naresh and Sandesh led the protesters.
