The BJP made hay on a day when faultlines in the Congress-JD(S) coalition came to the surface with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy threatening to resign.
“Kumaraswamy’s position today is a warning to all those parties that want to forge a friendship with the Congress for the Mahagathbandhan,” former BJP minister S Suresh Kumar said in a tweet.
Addressing a news conference, BJP general secretary C T Ravi lambasted the coalition partners and asked them to “stop this drama and give good governance.”
Ravi, a former minister, mocked Kumaraswamy thus: “I’m 100% certain that Kumaraswamy, regardless of the humiliation he faces, will not resign. He will suffer it all for the sake of power. Those who will actually suffer are the people of the state.”
The Congress-JD(S) coalition, Ravi said, was scripting a new drama every day. “If you can’t provide good governance, resign and go home. But stop fooling people with this drama,” he said. “I sometimes wonder who is blackmailing whom in this coalition. Is it the Congress blackmailing the JD(S) for its gains, or vice versa?” he added.
‘Rude behaviour’
Ravi also fired a salvo at Congress leader Siddaramaiah, whose “rude behaviour” with a woman went viral. “It’s a mirror to Siddaramaiah’s autocratic mindset.
This also shows how women are treated under this coalition. During the Belagavi legislature session, the chief minister asked a woman farmer where she was sleeping and a Cabinet minister called a woman officer ‘bloody lady’,” he said.
