Chitradurga: Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra on Wednesday opined that the fight for the Chief Minister’s chair had taken a ‘disastrous’ turn and expressed confidence of the issue reaching a logical conclusion by the end of November.

Interacting with journalists in Chitradurga, Vijayendra said, “Initially, Siddaramaiah was assuring everyone that he would remain the CM for the entire five-year term. However, he is now saying that he will continue in the post if the high command asks him to do so. It appears as though anything could happen.”

Pointing to statements made by many Congress MLAs, who had expressed their disagreement with the CM, the Karnataka BJP president added, “Many legislators are clamouring for Deputy CM D K Shivakumar to be made the Chief Minister. Consequently, Siddaramaiah is himself not sure whether he will remain in the top post after November.”

The power tussle within the ruling party in the state had crippled the administrative machinery, rued Vijayendra. He charged the government with being apathetic to the welfare of farmers and the poor.

“Even the people are murmuring about the constant infighting within the government,” said the Karnataka BJP chief.
