Mangaluru: As a part of ongoing Karavali Utsava, the district administration will organise a film festival, dog show, car and bike show, musical night in Mangaluru.

Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP said that film festival will be organised in association with Bharath Cinemas on January 2 and 3, where in Kannada, Tulu and Konkani movies and short films will be screened at Bharath Cinemas at Bharath mall in Bejai.

The entry is free. The movies to be screened on January 2 are Arishadvarga (Kannada 10 am); 19.20.21 (Kannada, 12.30 pm), Raj Sounds and Lights (Tulu), Madhyantara (Kannada short film 6.30 pm), Kantara (8 pm).

On January 3, Saramsha (Kannada 10.15 am), Tarpana (Konkani 12:45 pm), Shuddhi (Kannada 3:15 pm), Kubi mathu Iyala (Kannada 5:45 pm), Garuda Famana Vrishabha Vahana (8 pm).

Dog show

The DC said Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services will organise dog show at Kadri Park on January 5.

This highly anticipated dog show promises to be a fun-filled day for dog lovers and families alike. About 150 to 200 dogs of over 20 breeds will take part. Labrador, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Beagle, Rottweiler, Shih Tzu, Pomeranian, Cocker spaniel, Boxer, Siberian Husky, Pugs, Great Dane, Dachshund , Doberman, Rajapalayam, Maltese, Chihuahua, Dalmatian, Mudhol, Indie, rarest breeds like Chow Chow, Miniature Pinscher,

Mini Pom, Poodle, Akita, Belgian Malinois are expected to participate.

The dog show competitions will be held in puppy category (3 to six months, six months to 1 year) and adult category (above one year – breed wise). The first prize winners from all the categories will participate in the final championship round wherein cash prize along with trophy will be given for the three best in show dogs.

Expert judges will evaluate dogs based on breed standards, movements, temperaments and overall conditions.

Agility and obedience demonstrations by DK and Udupi dog squad will be another attraction at the event, said the DC.

There will be exciting prizes and giveaways and mementos for all participants as a part of encouragement for the show. The department is organising a dog show after a gap of four years, he added.

Mullai Muhilan MP said that a car and bike show will be held at Kadri Park from 3 pm to 6 pm on January 4. The Kadri Park road will be closed for traffic on the day. Musical night will be held at old Deer park area of the Kadri Park from 5 pm to 9 pm.

As a part of Yuva Mana organised in association with Mangalore Round Table 116, Young Indians MCRT 190, Udaya raga will be held at 7 am at Kadri Park on January 5. Musical programmes by local artistes and bands will be held from 5 pm to 9:30 pm.

The DC said that the exhibition at Karavali Utsav ground and robotic Butterfly expo has received good response from the public.
