In response to the story appeared in City Herald of Deccan Herald in its March 27 edition, the National Mission on Monument and Antiquities (NMMA) Kerala State Co-ordinator Dr S Hemachandra has decided to submit a report to the government on the pathetic condition of the fort. Hemachandra told Deccan Herald that a survey will be conducted at the fort spread across five acres and a report will be submitted to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) soon. If the department takes initiative, the fort can be renovated and can be preserved as a historical monument, he said and appealed the general public to furnish information on such neglected forts to NMMA.
The Adka fort is situated on the banks of Shiriya river in Mangalpadi Gram Panchayat. The fort, which has trenches and other resources, has been encroached partially by private individuals.
