The FIR was registered under Sections 351(3) (criminal intimidation), 75(3) (sexual harassment) and 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint by an activist.

The complainant claimed that she saw Ravikumar on a news channel making the remarks on July 1 during a protest near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, inside the Vidhana Soudha.

“The chief secretary works at night for the state government and during the day for the chief minister,” Ravikumar said as per the FIR.

The complainant further said that such sexist remarks dishonoured the senior IAS officer and all other women, and hence, action should be initiated against the MLC.
