Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have booked the X (formerly Twitter) account of BJP4Karnataka for an offensive post against Indira Gandhi.

S Manohar, General Secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), registered a complaint at the High Grounds police station, accusing the BJP4Karnataka X account of sharing a video of the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, edited to show her as Hitler.

“BJP4Karnataka has shared a 38-second video, which is about the emergency period in India, showing an edited picture of Indira Gandhi appearing to be Hitler,” Manohar noted in his complaint, adding that it is not only disrespectful but also of a nature that also harms communal harmony.

High Grounds police have opened an FIR against the X account under BNS sections 192 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause a riot) and 353 (statements conducing to public mischief).
