Mandya: An FIR has been registered at the Mandya East Police station against a man for allegedly forging the signatures of government officials, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, for creating fake appointment orders and cheating the public to the tune of Rs 31 lakh.

H C Venkatesh of Tavaregere village in Mandya taluk is the accused.

A case has been registered based on the complaint lodged by Netravathi of Gandhinagar and Mallesh of Kallahalli in Mandya.

The accused had claimed to be employed at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru and had taken Rs 12.24 lakh from a person on the pretext of offering him a job as the deputy director of Public Instruction. He had cheated another person of Rs 19 lakh, promising him a job as a senior officer in the Commerce department, the complaint stated.

He has also cheated many others by claiming that he knew actor Darshan and Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan. It is alleged that he had asked them to come to government offices and had cheated them.
