Five persons have been arrested on charges of supplying adulterated milk to Karnataka Milk Federation. The arrested have been produced before the court. The suspects are Kurubanahalli Srinivas, Machenahalli Ashok, K B Hal Udaya, Narasipura Sannaswamy and milk vehicle driver Dayanand. Several other suspects are absconding. Hassana Halu Utpadakara Sanghagala Okkoota Managing Director Gopalaiah had registered a complaint at the rural police station in this connection.

Adulteration was confirmed when the milk was tested at Arsikere cold storage facility. The adulteration was done at the milk producers’ associations at Kurubanahalli, Machenahalli, K B Hal and Narasipura.

It is alleged that Kurubarahalli Halu Utpadakara Mahila Sangha Secretary Parvatamma, her son Srinivas, secretaries of K B Hal and Machenahalli Milk Producers’ Associations, vehicle staffers, cold storage staffers and contract workers are hand in gloves. The suspects had allegedly created fake names for milk producers. Also, staffers at the cold storage centre in Arsikere sent the milk directly without testing the purity of the milk. The adulteration is suspected to be carried out from the last three years.
