Five more succumb to H1N1 in StateDeath toll reaches 63

A 62-year old woman admitted to a private hospital on September 3, expired on September 8 and a 44-year-old man shifted to a government hospital on September 10 succumbed on the same day.

A one-year-old boy admitted on September 1 to a government hospital in Hubli, succumbed to the flu on the same day and a 28-year-old man admitted on September 7 to a private hospital in Gadag expired on September 9.  The swab test reports of the victim arrived only on Saturday.

First death in Gulbarga

Gulbarga district has recorded its first ever death due to A (H1N1) influenza. A five-year-old boy hailing from Sawur village in Shahapur taluk had succumbed to H1N1 on Tuesday but it was officially made known only on Saturday that the death was due to the disease.

The boy was admitted to a private hospital here on September 5 and his swab sample was sent to Bangalore on September 7. The boy died on the following day. However, the report confirming the disease was received on September 12, four days after the death of the boy.

One more person from the district, hailing from Surapur, is said to have contracted the H1N1 virus and he is recovering at a hospital in Bijapur.

29 fresh cases

Meanwhile, 29 fresh cases tested positive for the H1N1 Influenza with 24 cases reported only in Bangalore, four in Mysore and one in Gulbarga. Till date 737 persons have tested positive for flu in the State.
