Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has scaled down its forecast for coastal Karnataka and parts of Malnad.
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru,
Hassan and Kodagu districts from July 21 to 24 and again on July 26 and 27.
Heavy to very heavy rain has been forecast for one or two places in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts on July 25.
Bengaluru and some parts of south and north interior Karnataka are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall at most places from July 21 to 27, the IMD said.
On July 23, heavy rainfall has been forecast for one or two places in Bidar, Kalaburagi, Belagavi and Dharwad districts. On July 24, one or two places in Belagavi, Dharwad and Haveri districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall.
The IMD had issued an orange alert for coastal Karnataka on Monday. Between 8.30 am and the 5.30 pm, Honnavar received 40.5 mm of rainfall and Karwar 15.3 mm. Mudigere (Chikkamagaluru district) received 17 mm of rainfall in the same period.
Many parts of northern Bengaluru received moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday. The IMD recorded 19.8 mm of rainfall at the Kempegowda International Airport observatory, 6.2 mm at HAL airport, 4.2 mm at Bengaluru city and 11 mm at
its Bengaluru urban automatic weather station from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm.
The IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky and light to moderate rainfall in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 28°C and 20°C, respectively.
