Members of the Nagarika Hakku Horata Samithi have requested the district administration to take action against encroachment of roads.

They have also demanded that parking spaces be identified in the district.

In a press release, the Samithi has stated that there is a lack of space to park vehicles as building constructors have flouted rules. Shops and other commercial buildings have encroached upon the spaces allotted for parking. In many areas, there is no space for entry of emergency fire service vehicles too. Infringement of roads is also evident in some cases, the press release said.

The Samithi has also urged the administration to enforce regulations on builders to provide compulsory setback space during construction. The building permit should be cancelled if the constructors fail to adhere to the norms, the members demanded.

The Samithi warned that if the district administration did not act accordingly, it may become inevitable for the members to approach the high court in public interest.
