IISc-SDC co-ordinator B Subba Reddy lays a foundation stone to build accommodation for the IISc-SDC faculty at IISc campus in Kuhdapura of Nayakanahatti on Thursday.

Nayakanahatti/DHNS: Ensuring all basic facilities for the staff of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is the utmost priority, said Skill Development Centre co-ordinator B Subba Reddy. He was speaking after laying a foundation stone for the IISC staff residential complex to be built at Rs 20 crore at Khudapura near Nayakanahatti on Thursday.
The IISc-Skill Development Centre (IISc-SDC) launched in 2011 is one of the premiere institutes training students on basic science.
An estimated 20,000 teachers of high school and PU classes from all over the country including those from Union Territories too have been trained by the IISc-SDC. In this view, providing accommodation to these teachers and staff was one of the priorities. Hence, an accommodation complex housing 48 houses will be built at a cost of Rs 20 crore. Reddy laid the foundation stone for the housing complex.
Besides, a 10 km long ring road along with 4.3 km concrete road is being built at the 1,500 acre IISc campus. Teachers coming here training will be provided with electric vehicles to move around the campus. Besides, facilities like gym, quality food, medical and ambulance facilities too have been provided, he informed.
Faculty, Prof Kishore, Prof Raghavendra, engineer Hemanth, CPWD A E Rajagopal and executive engineer Ashawathaiah were present.
