Four members of a family drowned while taking bath in a rivulet at Anthrayipalke in Nada village of Belthangady taluk on Wednesday evening.
The deceased are Rahim (30), his wife Rubeena (25), Yasmin (23) and Suban (15), residents of Pakeeranakatte in Kaup of Udupi district. They had been to the Kajoor Dargah in the morning. While returning, they decided to take bath in the rivulet.
Seeing Suban drowning, all of them rushed to rescue him and they too drowned. Hearing the cry of another family member Maimuna, local residents Mohan Bhoja and Nonaiah Gowda rushed and rescued her. Maimuna was rushed to Belthangady and she is recuperating in a hospital.
