Four houses were gutted in a LPG cylinder explosion at Palya village in the taluk on Thursday. No casualties were reported.
The damaged houses belong to Venkatanayaka, Nagamani, Venkatamma and Puttamadamma and the loss is estimated to be in lakhs of rupees.
The first explosion occurred at the house of Venkatanayaka, as there was leakage in the gas cylinder. The residents ran out of fear, without dousing the flames, when the cylinder exploded. The flames spread to the neighbouring houses and all the four houses were gutted, destroying all household items.
