The fishing boat which collided with a sea wall near Alvekodi in Bhatkal taluk of Uttara Kannada district.

Bhatkal (Uttara Kannada district): Four men have gone missing after the fishing boat they were sailing on capsized off Jali Beach in Bhatkal, Uttara Kannada district, on Wednesday.

In all, six fishermen set sail on the fishing vessel. When the boat was inching closer to Alvekodi Beach, it was jolted by a huge wave that upended the vessel.

While Manohar Mogera and Rama Kaarvi managed to swim ashore, 40-year-old Ramakrishna Mogera, Satish Mogera (26), Ganesh Mogera (27) and 30-year-old Nitish Mogera were nowhere to be seen, either on the shore or in the sea.

The police have launched a search operation to look for the four missing fishermen.
