Shivamogga: School Education and Literacy Minister S Madhu Bangarappa has said that the state government would provide free electricity and drinking water to all public libraries.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, the minister said that in order to revamp the Department of Public Libraries, an IAS officer has been appointed as the department head for the first time. “The digital library system is completely ruined. A review of the complaints from readers shows there are no books and the existing software is not reader-friendly. Action has been recommended against some officers and staff of the department,” he said.
The minister said necessary steps have been taken for changing the software used for digital library system.
