Amid rumours that the government might dilute the controversial Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Bill, 2017, a copy of another draft with certain changes has been leaked, creating a flutter.

The leaked version of the latest draft makes no mention of the contentious imprisonment clause, which has been strongly opposed by representatives of private hospitals.

The leaked version has many insertions, where provisions pertaining to permissions, renewal of registration, inspection, grievance redressal, repayment of balance amount by patients have been tweaked.

When contacted, officials of the Health and Family Welfare department did not confirm if there was any new draft.
