Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that an action in the case of four maternal deaths in Bellary Institute of Medical Sciences, has already been initiated.
Once they get a report from the Committee led by the development commissioner formed to probe the cause in this regard, they will take further action, he added.
He was responding to a question by reporters at Naripura helipad in Kollegal taluk, Chamarajnagar district, regarding the Lokayukta raid on BIMS related to these four maternal deaths reported last month.
CM Siddaramaiah said, "I have already visited Bellary in this regard. They have already discussed this in the cabinet. Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao and officials of the health department visited BIMS on Saturday (today). Even as it is being suspected that those maternal deaths were due to a drug ('Compound Sodium Lactate Injection I. P-Ringer's Lactate I P), the Drugs controller is already suspended and the drug supplier is blacklisted. We have already formed a committee led by the development commissioner to investigate the cause of these deaths," he said.
Regarding BJP leader Sriramulu's protest related to maternal deaths, CM Siddaramaiah reiterated, "Once the Committee gives a report we will initiate further action on those who have erred," he said.
