G Shankar Family Trust collects 6,000 units of blood

 G Shankar Family Trust, led by entrepreneur and philanthropist G Shankar has been organising blood donation camps successfully in association with District Mogaveera Youth Organisation.

Owing to the extraordinary support extended from general public,  the Trust, which had intended to collect 2,500 units of blood has crossed its expectation by collecting a record rate of 2,550 units of blood in the recently held blood donation camp. The collected blood will be handed over to KMC hospital on the birthday of G Shankar, which is on October 5.

G Shankar Family Trust has contributed a lot to the improvement of health condition of the underprivileged people. the Trust has donated 15 dialysis machines to various hospitals in the state in order to help the poor families. Free ambulances have been provided to A J Hospital, Mangalore and Sagara Mogaveera Sangha at Shimoga.
Distribution of free medical cards to 7,000 members has been one of the tasks
accomplished by the Trust in association with Manipal group of hospitals.

In a recent development, the Trust has signed a MoU with Manipal University, under which the beneficiaries selected by the Trust will be allowed to undergo free medical check up in KMC hospitals.  

G Shankar, who was born in an economically backward family, graduated from Karnataka University facing many hardships.

After returning to his home town in 2002, he decided to help the less fortunate section of the society. With this aim he started G Shankar Family Trust nine-years ago and began to lend a helping hand to the needy, providing health, education, housing and other facilities.

G Shankar through his Family Trust has honoured and awarded many hidden talents in the field of education and culture. Trust’s work which was limited to Udupi and Bijapur in the initial days, has now spread to Mangalore, Chikmagalur, Uttara Kannada, Shimoga, Davangere and other districts of the state.
