Jayashri Baddi, mother of Amit Baddi, who was arrested in connection with the Gauri Lankesh murder; claimed her son was innocent.

"My son is being troubled by the police unnecessarily. Even the earlier rowdy-sheeter case related to a communal incident is not yet proved," Jayashri added.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Gauri murder, had arrested Amit Ramachandra Baddi (27) at Hubballi, on July 24. His mother Jayashri had earlier claimed that the arrest was a case of mistaken identity.

Gauri Lankesh (55), the victim, was a journalist-activist, and a vocal critic of hardline right-wing ideology. She was shot dead outside her Bengaluru home in September 2017.
