Kalaburagi: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Eshwar Khandre on Saturday instructed officials to geo-tag each sapling so they could more accurately and effectively monitor its growth.
Interacting with reporters here, Khandre said, “Saplings will be geo-tagged with a survey number when they are planted. Information about the extent of their year-on-year growth and condition of the saplings will be made available on the department’s website.”
The minister said 8.5 crore saplings had been planted in the state since the Congress came to power two years ago and that 70% of these had survived.
