CMC President S Nanjundaswamy said that it was mandatory for the roadside vendors to possess identity cards issued by the City Municipal Council, to continue their business in the city.

Speaking at a programme held to distribute identity cards to the roadside traders in Chamarajanagar, on Tuesday, he said the government had introduced several schemes for the benefit of the small vendors who do business on roadsides. The vendors are scattered and doing business at various points, creating problem for vehicular traffic and also for the people. Hence, they should continue their business at the spot fixed by the CMC, which will help in providing more facilities to them, he opined.

CMC Commissioner Vijay said there were 393 roadside vendors in the CMC limits, out of which 280 had already been distributed with ID cards. The remaining would be distributed the cards soon. Names of the vendors who have been left out in the list should register their names with the CMC, he said.
