Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday gave two weeks to the e-Governance department to roll out the much-delayed GIS-based guidance value system and digital delivery of property registration documents.
Guidance value is the base price on which property transactions have to take place.
Under the GIS-based system, guidance value will be assigned to properties abutting all roads and streets. According to the government, the new system will make guidance value for each property available online for citizens to know the exact stamp duty that will be applicable.
“Right now, sub-registrars can manipulate details of a property’s nature and location. That’s why we’re unable to fetch the real potential in terms of revenues. Under the new system, values are auto-fetched and auto-calculated,” an official said.
Siddaramaiah chaired a meeting to discuss issues pertaining to property registrations, e-Swathu and other matters affecting revenue collection.
Sources said Siddaramaiah has given deadlines to the departments of urban development and rural development to implement their digital e-Khata arrangements.
The rural development department has been asked to amend the Gram Swaraj Act to facilitate issuance of ‘B’ Khatas to rural properties under e-Swathu.
