Bengaluru: A delegation of the Karnataka State Nomadic and Tribals Mahasabha, led by its president B L Hanumanthappa, on Thursday called on Justice H Nagmohan Das, who heads the commission to review the implementation of internal reservation for Scheduled Castes (SCs).
The delegation urged the commission to take note of the recommendations made by the Balkrishna Renuke commission for nomadic tribes that was formed in 2004 and the Bhiku Ramji Idate commission that was formed in 2014, to compile a catalogue of denotified, nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes.
“These commissions were formed by the union government to know the status of nomadic tribes. They have made elaborate recommendations,” Hanumanthappa told DH.
He said the KSNTM demanded that the Justice Nagmohandas commission provide at least 3% reservation exclusively for nomadic tribes in the state.
