Bangalore University former vice-chancellor N R Shetty who presided over the function spoke on the need to improve the facilities in Indian hospitals. “We should need excellent institutions in India with world class, state-of-the art facilities, which can compete with any other hospital in the world. Institutions and hospitals under Nitte Group are trying to do exactly the same,” he said.
Nitte University Chancellor NV Hegde, Vice Chancellor Dr M Shantharam Shetty, Registrar Rajashekhar M, D R Hegde, Vishal Hegde, Guruprasad Adyanthaya, Dr Ajith Adyanthaya and KSHEMA Dean Dr Arunachalam Kumar were present.
The proposed super-speciality block will be a six-storeyed building of 2.60 lakh sq.ft and will be completed in two phases. The first phase is expected to be complete by next year. The cancer centre features most modern facilities like Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) among other facilities.
The existing research laboratory in the hospital will be relocated in the proposed block, said the hospital authorities.
