JD(S) leader M C Nanaiah, who raised the issue, said many residents of Evooru Tanda of Shahpur taluk in Gulbarga district are affected by fluoride contaminated water. But the worrisome factor is the government officials did not wake up to take note of the problems faced by the people, he said. He was also critical about a pension of Rs 400 given to the disabled persons.

A majority of MLCs who were present in the house criticised the supply of packaged water and insisted that the filtered bacteria-free water be supplied to every household.

Health Minister B Sriramulu told the House that there are 14 disabled persons in the village. Of them two cases were of amputation. He said he would send a medical team to the village and personally visit to check status of the disabled persons.
