Bengaluru: A meeting chaired by Chief Secretary to government Shalini Rajneesh on Tuesday decided to write to the Election Commission India (ECI) requesting not to depute teachers on election duty.

Following the recent response from the State Election Commission for the request from the Principal Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department not to depute teachers for Election work, the Karnataka State Government Primary School Teachers Association had requested the government to take a decision on it considering the impact on academic activities. 

In the meeting it was also decided to place this issue before the Cabinet.

The Association informed that hiring agencies for cleaning school toilets was discussed in the meeting.
