Kalasa: Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot unveiled the statues of Venkatasubba Jois and Narasamma Venkatasubba Jois at Horanadu on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Gehlot stated that Horanadu is a land of harmony. Recalling the contributions of late Venkatasubba Jois, he stated that Jois was a 'karmayogi' and a committed social worker who contributed immensely for the development of Horanadu. He developed Horanadu temple 50 years ago, the Governor added.

A book 'Annapoorna Dhurandara' on Venkatasubba Jois was released by the Governor on the occasion.

Union Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that the social works being carried out by Horanadu kshetra are worth emulation.

Horanadu Temple Dharmadarshi Bhimeshwara Joshi handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the Central Government through Union Minister Gajendra Singh, towards the fight against terrorism. Sculptors Mahesh and Venugopal were felicitated on the occasion.

Beneficiaries were provided with electrification certificates, agricultural equipment and sewing machines.
