Speaking to reporters here, he said that the KIOCL has been facing significant financial challenges.

'State govt not cooperating'

"Due to non-cooperation from the Karnataka government, the mining lands were not given to the KIOCL. Though the state government earlier allotted lands for iron ore mining, the government is delaying handing over them to the company now," he said.

"With no other option, we are planning to merge KIOCL with NDMC," Kumaraswamy said.
