Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has designated the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged mass killings in Dharmasthala as a police station.
Officers in the SIT holding the rank of police inspector or higher have been designated as Station House Officers (SHOs).
In an order issued under Section 2(1)(u) of the Bharatiya Nagarika Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on August 6, the Home Department also authorised the officers to carry out investigations under the BNSS and submit final reports to the court.
