That means the scholarship money will be deposited directly to the student’s account opened by him/her in the bank.
All candidates who have been sanctioned the scholarship (fresh and renewal) should furnish their bank account numbers immediately to their respective school/college as well as the Director, Directorate of Minorities, 20th Floor, V V Towers, Ambedkar Veedhi, Bangalore.
The principals/headmasters of all colleges/schools should collect their students’ bank account numbers, names, and full address of the bank along with the IFSC or RTGS code. The said information should be provided in the proforma already sent to them and published on www.gokdom.com within the first week of December, Ateeq Ahmed, Director of Minorities, has stated.
After obtaining the information from the students about the pre-matric scholarship, headmasters should send the same to the respective Block Education Officers (BEO) who would be required to forward them to the Directorate of Minorities. Students can open the scholarship account in the bank with ‘Zero Balance’ as permitted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in a letter (RBI/2005-06/204) on November 11, 2005. Bank managers should not insist on minimum balance for the said accounts.
