Speaking to the media persons after taking charge, Vastrad said he would continue with the good works done by his predecessors and ensure proper execution and implementation of government schemes. Priority will be given to education, health and sanitation in rural areas. All Government schemes will be implemented in right spirit. The Chief Minister’s grant of `100 crore for the development and beautification of Mysore and JnNURM programmes will be put on fastrack.

“All government schemes  will get priority. The clearance of encroachment would also continue. It is part of the regular exercise of the Government. Land sharks will also be strictly dealt with and Government lands will be reclaimed if they are found encroached. The administration will also act upon the recommendations of Subrahmanyam committee,” he replied to a query and added that no one would be spared if the Government land is encroached. Vastrad began his administrative career as KAS officer in 1982 and was appointed as probationary officer in K R Nagar and served in Periyapatna later. He also served as executive officer of Zilla Panchayat in Bidar, Gulbarga, Madikeri, Bagalkot and Dharwad. He was the Commissioner of Hubli-Dharwad City Corporation. He was promoted to IAS and transferred as DC to Davanagere, where he served for three years before his latest assignment.
