A case of inhuman treatment meted out to government school students has come to light in Badigwad, Gokak taluk, Belagavi district on Friday.

Education department sources said that Jaipal Bhajantri, headmaster of the Government Higher Primary School at Badigwad village in Gokak, forced students to clean toilets, utensils and his personal motorcycle.

Residents of the village shot videos of the students being forced to do the work. The video has gone viral on social media. The villagers also expressed their ire against the headmaster.

Ajit Mannikeri, Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) and Chikkodi Educational District (Incharge), said that the Block Education Officer (BEO) has been asked to inquire into the incident and submit report. Based on the report, action would be taken against the headmaster, he added.

BEO of Mudalagi A C Gangadhar said, that during the inquiry it was confirmed that Bhajantri forced students to clean toilets and his motorcycle. A report was ready and would be submitted to the DDPI for action, he added.
