The department has fixed July 5 as the last date for companies to submit their proposals in this regard. “Soon after the DPR is prepared and approved by the Government, a global tender will be called to award the project contract. It may take six months’ time,” said official sources.
The department has proposed to implement the project under Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model under public private partnership basis. The total estimated cost of is Rs 5,600 crore, at Rs 140 crore per km.
The plan is to have 40 km mono rail in two corridors -- Hebbal to J P Nagar (31 km) and peripheral ring road to Toll Gate along Magadi road (9 km).
Swiss Challenge
The DPR include technical feasibility and financial viability of the project. Besides, it will have traffic, land, engineering, pavement, structure, safety and station location plans.
Two more companies- Kolkata-based Jain Corporation and a Singapore-based company- have approached the Government through Swiss Challenge to build a mono rail network during the two-day Global Investors’ Meet.
“We are yet to go through the proposals of these two companies. If the Government agrees, they will be asked to submit DPRs,” official sources said. Malaysia-based company Schomi Geodesic has already submitted a DPR for mono rail in Bangalore under Swiss Challenge.
