The government has decided not to hold a Cabinet meeting atop the Nandi Hills on Thursday, shifting the venue to the Vidhana Soudha instead.
Apparently, this was done under pressure from Congress lawmakers who argued that holding a Cabinet meeting at Nandi Hills without announcing anything big for the Chikkaballapur and Kolar regions would be counterproductive.
“It will be nothing but a regular Cabinet meeting with general subjects. Major projects proposed for the region have not received approval from the finance department yet,” a senior minister said.
“Cabinet meetings held at Kalaburagi and Chamarajanagar saw big decisions for those regions. Holding a Cabinet meeting at Nandi Hills that offers little for the Chikkaballapur-Kolar region would have been difficult for MLAs to explain to their constituents,” one source pointed out.
