The arecanut growers submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister during his visit to Sringeri on Sunday. The growers said loan must be waived off and loan without interest must be given to the growers. They urged the government to direct all the nationalised and commercial banks to stop recovering loans taken by the farmers. Alleging that the survey on the yellow leaf affected plantation was not done properly, they said a survey should be conducted in the presence of senior officials of horticulture and revenue departments.
