The Covid-19 pandemic has cast its shadow on the historical Gudugalale Sri Jayadeva cattle fair, organised jointly by Handli and Shanivarasanthe Gram Panchayats at Gudugalale ground from the last week of January till February 15.
The district administration has denied permission for observing the fair grandiosely. The deputy commissioner has denied permission for entertainment programmes during the fair.
As a result, the 76th Sri Jayadeva cattle fair and second year of punyaradhana of Shivakumara Maha Swami will be held on February 8.
To commemorate Veerashaiva dharma sammelana at the ground in 1945, the cattle fair is held every year.
As a part of the fair, the Utsavamurthy of Sri Basaveshwara Temple will be taken out in a procession to the Sri Basaveshwara Temple in the ground where the puja rituals will be held.
In the religious meet, Kirikodli Mutt pontiff Sadashivaswami, Kallu Matadheesha Mahanthaswami, Muddinakatte Matadheesha Siddalingashivacharya Swami and others will take part.
