Ramanagar: The department of social welfare has reportedly decided to take back the compensation given to the family of a 15-year-old girl, whose body was found near the railway tracks at the Hakki Pikki colony at Bhadrapura in the taluk recently.
Initially, the deaf and dumb girl’s family and the villagers alleged that it was a rape and murder. The social welfare department had got the compensation cheque for Rs 4,12,500 distributed to the girl’s family by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, since the death was considered a caste atrocity case.
However, police probe concluded that the girl died in a train accident. A department official told DH that they were waiting for the police report over the death of the girl, Khushi. The compensation amount would be taken back from Khushi’s family once they received the report, he said.
