There were heated arguments between the members of Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) and the staff of Morarji Desai Residential School, run by the Department of Backward Communities in the town on Tuesday.

The DSS members alleged that the students of the school were not provided with quality food and the students, who had complained in this regard were punished by the staff. They arrived on the premises of the school on Tuesday morning and questioned headmaster Nataraj. They even resorted to stage a protest in front of the school.

When some DSS members tried to enter the school and seek information from the students, the staff resisted them and it resulted in a wordy duel.

Meanwhile, the students came out of the classrooms and clarified that they were not facing any problem as alleged by the protesters and stated that the staff have been taking care of them well. However, the police, who arrived on the spot brought the situation under control.

The staff clarified that as there is no warden for the hostel, they are managing the hostel, along with the academic activities. With the warden being deputed on temporary basis, their problems would be solved, they said.
